Golf Tip of the Month
Drop it in the Right Place
When you find yourself in a water hazard,
you have several options, including:

1) Play from within the hazard.
Note: You may not ground your club unless making a stroke.
2) Drop at the spot from where the
previous ball was hit. If this is the tee box, you may tee it
up.
3) Drop the ball on an imaginary line
that is drawn from the hole to the spot where the ball
crossed into the hazard. You may drop as far back on this
line as you want, but it cannot be closer to the hole than where the
ball crossed the hazard.
Many people think that you may drop on
the line of flight, but there is no such rule in golf.
4) Drop within two club lengths of where
the ball crossed into the hazard, but no closer to the hole.
5) Drop on the other side of the hazard
at a point that is equidistant to the hole.
6) Drop in a drop zone if one is
provided.
Knowing the rules can
save you time and strokes, and may help you to win your match! |
