Golf Tip Of The Month

How to hit more greens in regulation
By Adam Dean, Assistant Professional

It's one of the easiest concepts in golf:  The more birdie putts you have, the lower your score will be.  The hard part is executing the shot you need to make sure you're putting on the next stroke.

There aren't too many philosophies on how to hit more greens since it all comes down to accuracy, but there are two key areas to concentrate on.  The first is setting up your approach with the tee shot.

Think of it like a world champion pool player.  He is always thinking one, two, three shots ahead.  This is how we should approach the golf course.  Try to put yourself in the best possible position for the next shot.

Second, learn the nine ball flight laws.  These are the always true fundamentals of why the ball hooks, slices, or goes straight.  Click on the diagram below for a better understanding.

Knowing these principles will only help you to hit more greens in regulation if your swing cooperates.  In order to get the most out of your game, always consult a PGA Professional.

Ladies Golf Association

The CCLGA had a very busy June with the highlight being King for a Day. Congratulations to the winners:

1st - Ina Turner/Russ Hufstedler
2nd - Myra Matney/Adam Dean
3rd - Sharon Dixon/Frank Karban

July will also be a busy month for the ladies. They are already working hard on the Invitational Tournament to be held on September 7th. The theme for this tournament will be "Aloha Luau." Entry forms are in the clubhouse. July 27th will be the annual Guest Day. Members are to ask friends to come out and play. If you would like to play in our Guest Day, please call the clubhouse and put your name on the list. Ladies will participate in a play your own ball format and then have lunch after play.

The Clear Creek ladies have finished, with help from Matthew Meade, the beautification of the cemetery near the green at number nine. Be sure to take time to notice the improvement around the cemetery. The headstones in this cemetery date back to Civil War times.

Ladies of all ages and abilities are invited to join the CCLGA organization. You may get information from any member or from the clubhouse. Come on out and enjoy fun and fellowship.
